There is a Tow Truck Museum
The International Towing & Recovery Hall of Fame & Museum, is in the city where Ernest Holmes was borne and invented the first tow truck. The place is Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Everything that is connected with towing you can find in this museum. A lot of historical details, many tools that were used, restored tow trucks, a lot of pictures and a lot of tow truck equipment.
The World's Largest Tow Truck
While there have been many iterations of the tow truck since Holmes's day, including popular toy versions for kids, surprisingly the world's largest tow truck harks back to the original. This million-dollar model was assembled in Quebec and shipped to British Columbia for use by a private company.
Featuring an enormous, heavy-duty winch and boom on the rear, the world's largest tow truck has advantages over other trucks. It can park off the road and with its crane-like apparatus reach across lanes to lift vehicles disabled by accidents without taking up a traffic lane itself. Its large weight capacity allows it to handle everything from motorcycles to semis.
The First Tow Truck was Built from a Cadillac
When Ernest Holmes built the first tow truck, he didn’t begin by creating a completely new vehicle. Rather than building from the ground up, he focused on the hoisting system which he mounted to the back of his 1913 Cadillac. Many people associate tow trucks with grease and grime, but their origins surprisingly began with a luxury brand.
Drivers may lose the ability to maneuver their vehicle if it is badly damaged in an accident or is hindered by a sudden part failure, but if possible, it is always smart to pull over to the side of the road. It will put you out of harm’s way from oncoming motorists, make it easier for towing professionals to service your vehicle, and allow other drivers to pass unimpeded.
Unless your vehicle is on fire, smoking, or emitting harmful fumes, you should stay in your vehicle while waiting for roadside assistance. It may be tempting to get out to assess the damage but standing on the road can put you in jeopardy of being hit by another motorist
No matter the severity of the incident or the time of day, always use your hazard lights. Turning them on is important for several reasons if your car breaks down. First, it allows other drivers to see you at night and in bad weather. Secondly, it is a signal to other drivers to slow down and drive cautiously.
It is never smart to get in the car with a stranger to go searching for roadside assistance. Likewise, calling a friend or family member for help can cause a delay in getting back on the road.
Always have the name and number of a trusted tow company in your glove compartment in case your car breaks down unexpectedly. Call JKJ Transport, Inc. for all of your towing needs at 540-295-4432

"Good afternoon, yesterday afternoon my 16 year old granddaughter had an accident. I phoned Auto Club and they sent John from JKJ Transport. John was very helpful, professional, and friendly. I have had to use other tow companies in the past but none could quite compare. I was totally satisfied with his service. Thank you for sending him!" Donna, 03/12/2015
"Hello my name is Kristen and I’ve been a triple A customer for the last 5 years. I have had to use your service pretty often due to flat tires, dead batteries, and plenty of other car inconveniences. I have always been grateful and extremely thankful for the services you provide as I live on my own and my family is 3 states away. However today was an especially tough day for me, everything that could go wrong... went wrong and the icing on the cake was my car dying in the middle of traffic. Thankfully your awesome tow truck driver, Kevin, came to my rescue. On top of barely having to wait any time for him to show up, he greeted me with a smile and immediately made me feel better about my awful day. Kevin was super friendly, helpful and completely professional while easing all my car trouble blues. I highly recommend Kevin as well as your triple A services to anyone who may be having some car difficulties; I’m so glad to be a customer of yours and I can’t thank you enough for all the help! 5 stars and two thumbs up for Kevin and JKJ transport!
